Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.
Most Impacted Areas
- Werribee region - experienced substantial storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing area - various rescue reports
- Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance
During the peak on the previous day, more than 28,000 energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
