AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine sect.
The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The preview features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
